Feathers are trendy: yay or nay?
Feathers. The haute couture shows have proven what we already suspected: feathers are on trend again and we will see them everywhere, from social media to fast fashion stores, very soon.
Although they are not consensual – it is one of those things that one loves or hates – I love it. Because they are extravagant and delicate while clearly affirming themselves as feminine.
Somehow they remind me of the ladies of the past, with their desirable exaggerations of style. And, interestingly, the literary novels of that time, like the Nana of Emile Zola.
With this being said, I had to buy this Mango coat, which I already have worn here. I was wanting him since the past Mango collection, but it was only this winter that I got it at Mango Outlet for a very nice price. Better than if I would have bought it last winter.
Feathers tend to be more festive. So, pairing them with more basic clothes - in a declared deconstruction of style - is an excellent bet for daytime looks.
Of course, for those who are not sure yet about this trend still want to try, the best thing to do is wear it slowly, as outfit details. A top with feathers, shoes or even a jumper with some feather in it. Something sober that allows you to understand if the trend is for you or not.
I mean, we don’t have to wear trends just because they’re trends. We have to identify with the trend and understand if fits it into our personality (that’s why you’ll never see me wearing ugly sneakers, no matter how trendy they are).
But for those who, like me, love feathers, go to it. The only thing is that feathers tend to be more festive. So, pairing them with more basic clothes – in a declared deconstruction of style – is an excellent bet for daytime looks.
However, if you want to pair it with skirts or dresses like I did and look more festive, why not? Isn’t life a party we’re all invited to? So, let’s just celebrate being who we are and dressing what we love. And being happy. Have you been happy today?
