Should We tell all about our personal lives on social media?
Personal life. Those who know me in real life know that I am a discreet person in my personal life. I’m shy, I need plenty of time until I can trust someone and this leads me to preserve everything that is more personal and more mine. And, of course, this extends to blogging and social networking. If it is a paradox to have a blog unwittingly reveal too much about personal life? Maybe, but I like paradoxes.
Anyways, I know that if I shared everything about my personal life here and on social media I would have many more followers and people looking at me. It’s Big Brother’s theory. It turns out. By the way, just look at who does it and the number of followers and buzz they have.
But honestly, I do not identify with that because that is not me. I share personal thing from time to time, but I believe the price of revealing everything is too high. At least for me.
When I'm asked if it's worth telling all my personal life on social media in exchange for more followers and ``fame``, my answer is no
I mean, I have many readers who love me and who show me a great love and care, which I thank from the bottom of my heart. And to these, to people who love each other, who cheer for the success of others, I would have no problem revealing much more. But, my readers (like those of everyone who has a blog) are not all loving peaceful people. There are bad, envious people in between. There are maniacs who gather every bit of information and build a truth from something we choose to expose. And most of the time that doesn’t correspond to the whole. After All, the thing is: each person is free to expose what he or she wants on the internet. And if there are those who expose everything, there are also those who choose very careful what they show in order to protect themselves.
So, when I’m asked if it’s worth telling all my personal life on social media in exchange for more followers and “fame”, my answer is no. But this is a very personal choice, which relates to the personality of each person. On the other hand, I know that when we love a blogger, we want to know as much as possible without any bad intentions. And because I know that, I occasionally expose something more personal.
At the end of the day, there is no absolute truth. As in everything in life, actually. There are many factors involved, there are people, personalities and egos. And it is up to each person to decide how they want to be exposed and what they are willing to give up.
Anyway, although I do not tell you everything, what I tell you is real. It is me, in a transparent way, with my virtues and defects. So, thank you for all your support and for being there.
