People change: what if we don’t like that change?
Life. People change. It is something that is inherent to our existence. We evolve, we stop loving some things to love others. For example, when I was younger I was always ready for dinners and parties. Today, I give much more value to staying at home in the company of a good book. Still, as a person I have not changed much: I remain stubborn, wanting to always be better, and being too realistic for some people.
This balance is complicated. To be what we are or be what others want us to be? In the end, what matters is to be happy. So never be afraid to change, and to evolve into evil or good.
And, if we change as individuals, it is also natural for us to change as bloggers. It’s part of being human. I was thinking about it because of Kristina Bazan. She was, without any doubt, my favorite blogger. I loved the elegant style, the writing and the feeling I had when I saw the pictures of her, carefully taken to look perfect. I admit that it is selfish, but when we visit a blog we do it because we want to take some satisfaction out of it. So when she dyed her hair black and decided to play with the Goths, I simply stopped following her. Because, for me, it stopped making sense.
A few days ago I came back to her Instagram, out of curiosity, and realized that she closed the blogger chapter. She changed. Now she decided she wants to be a singer. Obviously, we all have the right to change. But equally, those on the other side have the right not to like this change.
And this balance is complicated. To be what we are or be what others want us to be? In the end, what matters is to be happy. So never be afraid to change, and to evolve into evil or good. As I’ve seen somewhere years ago “we only live once, but if we do it right once is enough”. There will be those who stay, there will be those who leave. But that, you know, is called life.
