We are the others!
Others. I’m writing this post while i’m listening to the news about the tragedy on Pedrogão Grande (there was a wildfire and 62 people were killed). It was like a hell on earth. And it’s sad to think about all the people who have lost their families and houses.
I know there are a lot of tragedies across the world everyday. But the thing is, when it happens near us it means more to us. And, if there are anything we can learn with tragedies is that today it’s happening to the others. Tomorrow the others are us.
All of us try to live our lives the best we know, hoping the tragedies knock other’s doors. However, we are the others, to someone.
I mean, when i was 12, i went to my friend’s mum funeral who has passed away from cancer, and even if i was sad with all the situation deep in my soul, all that reality seemed so far away from me. At the time i had my mother with me. I couldn’t guess that some years later it would be me living the same tragedy.
At the time, she was the others to me. Today i’m someone’s others.
Anyway, even when a tragedy is not directly linked to us, we should all try to make what we can to help. Sometimes one word or one action makes the difference in someone’s life.
Somehow, life always keep on going after a tragedy. The world doesn’t stop spinning and as time goes by, people who were not directly affected to the tragedy forget. The ones who’ve lived the tragedy learn to keep on going. And all of us try to live our lives the best we know, hoping the tragedies knock other’s doors. However, we are the others, to someone.
