Mafra National Palace
Fairy Tale. The first time i went to visit the Mafra National Palace was on a field trip. I was a child and i was absolutely impressed with all the opulence and majesty of the Palace. At my child’s eyes it was the most beautiful palace i had ever been. And i felt so glad just to be there.
That was the reason why, so many years after i wanted to visit the Palace again. I was curious to know if it is as impressive as i remembered. Truth is it is.
Sometimes, we have to find the beauty of the past to be able to find the sense of the future.
At Mafra National Palace every detail is ornate, what makes it so beautiful. Truth to be told, the portuguese people is amazing with details. We really care about them in the belief that details make the difference. And they do.
Anyway, as we visit room by room we get more and more fascinated. There is a hunting room, where the king hang up the animals he hunted. There is the queen’s palace, the red room and the yellow one. In common all of them have the bold feeling of being powerful.
It’s kind of strange and amazing at the same time to think that our real ancestors called it holiday house. Such a big, bold an amazing place.
The Mafra National Palace teach us stories that are part of our History. And that made me think that sometimes, we have to find the beauty of the past to be able to find the sense of the future.
