The others. On the other day, i was grabbing a coffee with my brazilian best friend as she was telling me how pressure she feels to be someone who she isn’t. And, while i was listening to her i remember one of the best and more value advices my mum gave me: people will judge you no matter who you are or what you do, so it’s better to stay true to yourself.
And this is terrific true. People will judge us no matter if we like maxi or mini skirts. If we prefer tropical holidays or if we like to go to snow every year. They’ll judge us if we’re black or white. Or if our dream is travel the world. Or just have a regular job.
People love to talk about the others in order to forget their own problems. So, it’s ridiculous being something we aren’t to please some of them. The other half will judge us no matter what we do. It’s a fact.
People will judge you no matter who you are or what you do, so it’s better to stay true to yourself.
The thing is, happiness is not the same for everyone. And, that’s why we have to respect others instead of judging them. Our nature is to criticize, but it’s time to stop and think: if i was in his shoes, would i like to be judged? 90% of the times the answer will be no.
So, we have to be what we are and stop thinking how the others will react to what we are or to what we like. Everybody is different and that difference is pretty beautiful. We have to respect all point of views, after all.
Let me tell you something: when i wore this trench coat for the first time, many people told me it was horrible. But, for me it didn’t mean anything. I love it so much that i keep wearing it every time i can. And i’m posting it here today. After all, we can not please everybody, right?
With this being said, staying true to who we are regardless the others opinions is crucial to feel comfortable on our skin. And to feel happy.
They’ll judge us no matter what we or who we are. So, it’s better to be for something that we actually are or do, don’t you agree?
