Are blogs dead?
Social media. On the other day i was grabbing a rush coffee with my best friend, and she was so addicted to the phone that i thought she had some other match on Tinder. So, i asked her. The answer was way more simple: she was just scrolling on Instagram.
So, we started talking about Instagram and blogs, and she told me that with the popularity of Instagram she was reading less and less blogs.
We all know this is the reality nowadays even if i believe that blogs and Instagram are two different platforms that complement each other.
Blogs aren’t dead, they’re just dived into the buzz of existing too many.
Don’t get me wrong. I do love Instagram and i’m totally aware to how important it is nowadays, mainly for us bloggers. But i also believe that Instagram is more like a beautiful aesthetic diary, while blogs still being more like a sharing place where you get to know the blogger from her pics but also from her words. It’s a personal inspiring place.
You see, we’re living in an era where there are lots of information every day every where. And so are billions of blogs. Those that are different and have their own voice are the ones that will stand out from the crowd. And on what i am concerned i follow and read lots of them.
So yes, Instagram is playing an important role on the industry (as Youtube is too), but i believe that social media and blogs are different things. Meaning, blogs aren’t dead, they’re just dived into the buzz of existing too many.
At the end of the day, blogs are a unique sharing place where we relate to the blogger. They can be complemented, but they can not be replaced. At least, for those who love reading.
