A skirt with history
The black skirt. When i was a child, my mum used to wear this hand made pleated skirt. At that time i loved this skirt so much, that all i wanted is to grow up so i would be able to wear it. I loved its movement as its happy pleats.
Truth is every girl dreams with mum’s clothes. And, in my young mind i connected this skirt with happy moments.
Time has passed, and on the other day i saw the skirt hanging on my mum’s closet (as some of you may know by now, my mum has passed away in 2014). I almost heard it calling me to wear it, reminding me how much i loved it in my childhood. I didn’t expected that it suited me, but it did. And, i felt in love again. There it was, the beautiful pleated skirt. And there was me swirling in happiness wearing it.
So, i paired it with this lace top in a total black outfit and with my Toino Abel straw basket, because there are pieces that stole our hearts. The result was an elegant outfit, that i totally love.
There was me swirling in happiness wearing it.
Anyway, my mum taught me to love clothes and to connect them with moments. It was another era, of tailored clothes where one felt in love with every single piece. Regardless we’re living in this fast fashion time, clothes are part of our history because they reflect our personality and remind us from moments at once. This skirt represents happy moments to me and a good memory from my mother.
With this being said, i learn that sometimes, time makes us forget pieces we love in our closet. That’s why it’s important to keep it tidy. That’s it’s exactly what i’m going to do now.

Wow, what a gorgeous skirt and so many memories tied to it. I think your mother had incredible and timeless taste which is why you can still wear this skirt of hers and it is so beautiful and on trend. I love the lace top and the two toned heels with this look. Very classy and chic. xoxo, Christine
