My 5 golden rules for buying on sales
Sales. Sales are here and they are the perfect time to finally buy some of the pieces we were flirting with during all season. But we have to see sales as an opportunity to find bargains and not a time to act like crazy shoppers, right?
So, i know the internet is flooded with sales tips, but i wanted to share with you some of my non consensual rules to find good clothes and accessories on sales. Like these red leather shoes i’m wearing. I bought them on last winter’s sales and they were such a find. I haven’t seen them during all season but then they were: on sales. And i bought them. I’m so happy i did. They’re effortless chic, leather made and so comfortable.
With this being said here they are my 5 golden rules for sales:
1 -Track the pieces you want
When sales start you already know some of the pieces you want to buy. So, go to the shop on the first day of sales (preferably in the morning) and see where they are. If it’s a piece you’re not dead to buy and there are lots of them on your size, wait. Many shops like Zara get the prices progressively low so there’s a big chance if there’s a lot of items of one piece it will be cheaper on a few days. You can do that online too on shops that let you know when there is few items of a piece.
But, if you really want some piece in your life don’t do this. After all, it’s a risk.
2- Go to the shop early in the morning or late at night
This one is common sense. Early in the morning and late at night before closing is when there are less people at the stores and everything is perfectly tidy. So, it’s easier to see all the stuff they have and make your list.
Everybody tells us to make lists, but truth is there are lots of unexpected clothes and accessories on sales that are a great find.
3- Go to shops you usually don’t
There are lots of stores i don’t usually go to because they’re too expensive. Still they are amazing on sales, making big reductions on the price tags. I mean, you can find a bargain everywhere. It’s all about looking for it, believe me.
4- Be prepared to surprise pieces
Everybody tells us to make lists, but truth is there are lots of unexpected clothes and accessories on sales that are a great find. I don’t care if they’re from other seasons as long as i find a piece that i like. It just has to fit me perfectly and has a good price tag (like the shoes i’m wearing). So, be aware to surprise clothes because usually there are only one of two items of that piece at the shop. And please don’t ever buy anything that doesn’t suit you. It’s just a waste of money because you won’t wear it.
5 – Think out of the box
I mean, there are a lot of people obsessed with the currently season. If it’s summer they only buy bikinis on sales, if it’s winter they just buy outerwear. You see, if i see a black cashmere sweater on sales now for a good price i will buy it for winter, because i’m going to wear it a lot. And if i see a nice dress on winter sales i will buy it to wear on summer. If it’s a beautiful piece, if it’s your size, if it fits you perfectly and has a good price buy it. You won’t regret it.
So, these are my personal tips for buying on sales. I really hope they’re helpful to you, so let me know if they are. What about yours? Let me know what you bought on sales on the coments below. I’d love to know.
