10 reasons why you need to visit Paraty
Paraty. When in Sao Paulo, we took three days for going to the beach so we drove until Ubatuba in order to enjoy the beach. However, as a good friend of mine is from Rio de Janeiro and told me so well about Paraty, we decided to go there first because it’s close to Ubatuba. And i’m glad we did because Paraty is just a pretty small city that i absolutely loved. So, here there are 10 reasons why you need to visit Paraty:
It’s such a charming town. It remind me Ericeira and Aveiro (both in Portugal), because the houses are full of color.
Going to Paraty is like having a history lesson without the boring part. There’s a lot of things there from the Portuguese Discoveries Era, and it’s so cool to find out that the church and the floor are exactly the same so many centuries after.
Talking about History, the Real Street ends in Paraty. It was the street that linked Mina Gerais to Paraty, where the gold were transported to be put in the ships to Portugal.
Beyond the centre, there’s a lot of nature beauty around Paraty. There are a lot of beautiful beaches and waterfalls.
The Paraty’s culture house is a beautiful place where one can see art and expositions. I loved it there.
Paraty is just a pretty small city that i absolutely loved.
There are a lot of places there where we can see how sugarcane liquor is made and where we can try the sugarcane liquor. Engenho D’ouro is a craft alembic that is worth the visit.
When in Paraty is cool to rent a boat and go to the almost desert beautiful beaches and islands near the coast. It’s a truly awesome experience that i absolutely loved and highly suggest you to do.
In Paraty there’s a lot of typical restaurants with tasteful food. You have to try it, all the dishes are delicious.
There’s a lot of cultural events in Paraty such as a Literary Festival, that put the city in the map.
Paraty is so beautiful and colorful that’s easy to take great pictures there. If you like photography as much as i do, you’ll love it.
If you are in Sao Paulo or in Rio de Janeiro, i highly suggest you to drive to Paraty. The town is so charming and old that is easy to fall in love for it. Plus, there’s a lot of History there, and it’s nice to learn more about the Discoveries and how was the relation between Portugal and, at that time, the Brazilian colony. Plus, you can see indians in the streets as some of them still live in the city.
As the floor has been conserved from that era, and it’s made of irregular stone, i suggest you to wear comfortable shoes. I was wearing my All Stars as they are pretty amazing to walk. I’ve paired it with a pretty comfy summer look perfect for exploring the city.
Paraty is such a wonderful cool place. I just loved it there.
